Over his distinguished career, Kevin has provided hands-on leadership, vertical and horizontal management, operational execution and the vision necessary to ensure multiple financial institutions have the financial and operational controls, risk management, lending, compliance, administration and reporting procedures, and key monitoring systems in place to guarantee financial strength and operational efficiencies for a scalable and practical business model. He has held executive positions including President, CFO and COO during his tenure, in community banking, a credit union, mortgage companies, an equipment finance company, and a CUSO.
With 20+ years of pertinent experience, Kevin has comprehensive knowledge in a variety of financial institution sales production and management settings. He has been active both “In The Tower” and “In The Trenches”, so he knows effective processes from the Retail Sales Floor to The Board Room. Kevin championed the successful sale of a regional Midwestern Bank, and he has also recently overhauled a large credit union’s financial management systems. Working alongside key regulatory agencies, he has developed and implemented strong corporate governance procedures, along with extensive projects related to CECL, ALCO/ALM, and loan/investment portfolio administration. Additionally, he has helped during the early formation of a direct banking model along with the complete winddown of a bank balance sheet through an orderly liquidation/sale.
On the retail / relationship side of banking, his experience includes consumer, community rehabilitation and commercial lending, complex credit structuring, credit analysis, underwriting and closing/documentation/servicing. Additionally, he has 15 years of experience in collections, loss mitigation and asset management/recovery. Regarding compliance, he has managed the vision, creation and execution of Compliance Management Systems (CMS) in various sized institutions in conjunction with enterprise risk and audit plans.
During this time, Kevin has implemented numerous programs resulting in improved efficiencies, including a few core banking platform conversions, CECL, asset liability management (ALM) program and practical infrastructure to manage secondary mortgage market production volume and accountability. Previously, he helped migrate a large mortgage origination team and support system from the ground up along with the purchase and recapitalization of a community bank in Minnetonka, MN. Most recently, he has focused on assisting a regional credit union work through regulatory challenges by developing corporate and financial governance and internal controls.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Business degree in finance from Western Illinois University and completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) through Western Illinois University, along with the Certified Lease & Finance Professional (CLFP) designation and Certified Treasury Profession (CTP) designation. He has also graduated the ABA National and Graduate Commercial Lending Schools and various Illinois Bankers Association Lending and Deposit Compliance Programs.
Kevin has also served on a number of local community housing and non-profit boards throughout the Quad Cities.
